Foldable phones were just experimental ideas not too long ago, but now they are somewhat common. Some manufacturers, however, are stretching the envelope even further by experimenting with novel designs such as the next-generation foldable with many folds. Announced only yesterday, the Mate XT Ultimate is Huawei’s most recent invention with a tri-foldable design that basically turns a 10-inch tablet into a gadget fit in your pocket. See the whole release here for more thorough coverage: Huawei reveals the tri-fold marvel known as the Groundbreaking Mate XT Ultimate.
Is it unmanageable given its size?
China’s first hands-on evaluations indicate that while the gadget is undoubtedly big, management of it is not unduly challenging. Three sections of the Mate XT Ultimate may be unfurled in various phases to provide flexibility without becoming too heavy.
Dimensions Dissection
The Mate XT Ultimate is 12.8mm thick and has a 6.4-inch display when completely folded. Early users note that the bottom segment is somewhat broader than the upper two, hence when you hold the phone in this arrangement, you will be mostly clutching the bottom section.
Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Configuration Details
Configuration | Screen Size | Height | Width | Thickness |
---|---|---|---|---|
Fully Folded | 6.4” | 156.7mm | 73.5mm | 12.8mm |
Dual Screen | 7.9” | 143.0mm | 7.45mm / 4.75mm | |
Triple Screen | 10.2” | 219.0mm | 3.6mm / 3.6mm / 4.75mm |
Although one-handed use may be challenging, particularly with the folded arrangement, the 298g weight is very modest for a device that spans a 10.2-inch tablet, even if hefty for a phone. Users tend to have more trouble with weight distribution than with weight itself.
Views on Camera and Configuration
Thicker (4.75mm) than the other two portions (3.6mm), the bottom section—which holds the main camera island—is Comprising a 50MP primary sensor with variable aperture (f/1.4-f/4.0), 12MP ultra-wide lens (f/2.2), and a 12MP 5.5x periscope lens (f/3.4, OIS), the camera system is very remarkable. Located on the top section, the 8MP selfie camera is useable in both completely folded and fully unfolded versions.
But in dual-screen mode the selfie camera switches to the rear, giving the design some oddity.
Accessibility and Attachments
Fascinatingly, one of the sections may be folded so that it serves as a support, enabling the Mate XT Ultimate to hold itself up. Still, using the original protective case—which has a built-in kickstand—probably makes more sense if you want to prevent scratching the screen. With this 270-degree rotation of the kickstand, users have the freedom to arrange the tool in many angles. Actually, depending on whether the kickstand is in horizontal or vertical configuration, there are up to six various ways you might utilize it.
First-rate device, first-rate price
In terms of cost as well, the Mate XT Ultimate surely meets its “Ultimate” moniker. Given this upscale product, the packaging matches that. Inside the package you will find the phone, home and vehicle chargers, two USB cables, a set of Huawei FreeBuds 5, and the specified protective case. The package seems first-rate, and the preinstalled HarmonyOS excels in terms of customizing the UI to the different phone screen sizes and orientations.
battery and performance
Given how small the segments are, the gadget carries a 5,600mAh battery—a great effort. Supporting 66W wired charging via USB-C and 50W wireless charging guarantees quick and effective battery replacement. The Kirin 9010 chipset drives the Mate XT Ultimate; it provides high-end performance but additional specifics on its features are kept for a special review.
Accessibility and Cost
Available in China from September 19, the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate will start at CNY 20,000 (around $2,800/€2,550). Sadly, the chance of a worldwide release seems low, hence foldable phone enthusiasts outside of China could have to go with dual-foldable solutions.
With the Mate XT Ultimate, Huawei has stretched the possibilities by combining tablet capability with the mobility of a smartphone. With its creative tri-fold form, this gadget shows the future of foldables even if it comes at a high cost and may not be the simplest tool to use with one hand.
